TESSA RICHARDSON
ABOUT:
Tessa Richardson is a contemporary ceramic artist whose work transcends craftsmanship to explore cultural identity, human experience, and the origins of life.
With Anglo-Indian heritage, she grew up in the United Kingdom, where early studies in ceramics and sculpture during high school sparked a lifelong fascination with clayand the three-dimensional form. She went on to study at Ravensbourne College in London and Nottingham Trent University, earning a BA in Fine Arts with aspecialization in Conceptual Art. During this period, her practice centered on video installations, which later led her into a career in video production after relocating to the United States in 2006.
After a career in video production, she returned to clay, embracing its immediacy and transformative power. Her practice combines wheel throwing, hand-building, and experimental surface treatments to investigate themes of texture, primordial life, and celestial interconnectedness.
In Fall 2024, she was the featured artist at 108|Contemporary Gallery in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In Fall 2025, her work was exhibited at Mark Arts Gallery in Wichita, Kansas, as part of the National All Media Craft Exhibition. Richardson continues to live and work in Tulsa, expanding her practice through exhibitions, community engagement, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
